Take a LibriVox audiobook on your next walk.
Download the book’s MP3 files or an available M4B, import them into TaleReady on iPhone, then prepare audio for your Apple Watch. You can try iPhone listening and manual preparation of the next hour on Watch for free.
1. Choose a recording
Open the LibriVox catalogue and pick a recording. Its official download help explains individual MP3 chapters, the whole-book ZIP download, and M4B links when available. Listen to a sample to check the narrator and language.
LibriVox describes its recordings as public domain in the USA. If you are elsewhere, follow its guidance to check the copyright status in your country before downloading. TaleReady is an independent player, not affiliated with LibriVox, and does not supply these recordings.
2. Save and extract
Save the download to Files on iPhone. For a whole-book ZIP, tap the archive in Files to create an extracted folder. Open it and locate the MP3 chapters. TaleReady imports the audio files or folder, not the ZIP archive.
If you chose an available M4B instead, keep the downloaded audio file. Wait for any iCloud download to finish and leave enough space for TaleReady’s managed copy. Apple provides instructions for opening ZIP files on iPhone.
3. Import and check
In TaleReady on iPhone, use the add/import controls to select the extracted chapter folder, related MP3 files, or M4B. Review the title and chapter order before finishing. Play a short section to check the import.
No conversion is needed just to try supported MP3 or M4B audio. If the chapter order is wrong, correct it in the import review. The iPhone import guide explains the workflow in more detail.
4. Prepare your Watch
With TaleReady installed on your paired Watch, prepare the next hour from iPhone. Keep the devices nearby and wait until the app reports the audio as ready on Watch. Connect Bluetooth headphones to Watch and start playback there.
For the first session, test a short walk with your iPhone left indoors. A download completed on iPhone is not proof that audio is ready on Watch. Follow the offline Watch checklist before a longer outing.
Do I need to buy anything?
TaleReady’s iPhone listening and manual one-hour Watch preparation are free, with no trial deadline. Pro is an optional lifetime purchase for larger Watch windows, Always Ready, and automatic cleanup. It is not required to import a compatible LibriVox book.
You need iOS 17 or later, and watchOS 10 or later for Watch features. See all compatibility requirements.
